KETO RECIPE: Spicy Green Bean Toss Instant Pot and Stove Top Directions Versions)

Want a Keto Veggie dish that is delicious and hassle free? Try out the Spicy Green Bean Toss.

This recipe is perfect for a dinner side. You can even use the same recipe but swap out the green beans for other Keto Friendly veggies like cabbage, cauliflower, or broccoli florets.

I even love to make these green beans and store them in the fridge to be added to a big midday salad. Does anyone else love Keto Nicoise salad? Or is it just me?

This recipe serves 4 and each serving has 7 g net carbs per serving.

Spicy Bacon Green Bean Toss

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices uncured bacon, chopped

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 2 tablespoons grass-fed butter

INSTANT POT DIRECTIONS

  1. Select SAUTE on the Instant Pot. Add the bacon. Cook for 6 minutes or until crisp, stirring occasionally. Use a slotted spoon to remove bacon from pot (reserve for topping). Add onion to pot. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until just tender, stirring often. Select CANCEL. Stir in green beans and chicken broth.

  2. Secure the lid on the pot. Close the pressure release valve. Select MANUAL and set the pot at LOW pressure for 1 minute. At the end of cooking time use a quick release to depressurize.

  3. Select SAUTE on the Instant Pot. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes or until liquid is reduced and green beans are tender, stirring occasionally. Select CANCEL. Stir in Parmesan cheese, butter, and crushed red pepper. Sprinkle with bacon just before serving.

STOVE TOP DIRECTIONS

You don’t need the chicken broth for the stove top version, but you will need some avocado or olive oil for the skillet. These instructions assume you have cooked the bacon to crispy and chopped ahead of time.

  1. Heat avocado oil in large skillet over medium-high heat, add chopped onion and red pepper flakes.

  2. Stir in green beans and toss with tongs until they are browned in spots, about 5 minutes

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of water and then cover skillet with lid to steam. Cook covered until beans are bright green and crisp tender, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  4. Place beans on plate and top with butter, parmesan cheese and chopped bacon.
