KETO YOUTUBE: CAN I WORKOUT WHILE ON A KETOGENIC DIET?


There seems to be a lot of confusion about working out while on a ketogenic diet, so here I try to clarify that yes you can workout while on keto, but you need to pay special attention to your electrolytes and also allow your body to adjust to a new way of eating.

KETO KOOKIE SNICKERDOODLE BARK WITH DARK CHOCOLATE, BACON, PECANS, AND SEA SALT

Every once in awhile I throw together a recipe that instantly becomes one of my favorite things, this is one of them and it only has 5 ingredients!!

 

I wanted to create a decadent dessert that would be a great holiday treat. I started with Keto Kookie Snickerdoodles because they always remind me of the holidays, although I would definitely eat them any time of the year! Then I added dark chocolate from Choc Zero Dipping Cups, crispy bacon, chopped pecans, and topped it off with sea salt.

 

The result is DELICIOUS! See the step by step instructions below!

 

STEP ONE: GATHER YOUR INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of Keto Kookies (each packet includes 2 cookies)
  • 5 Choc Zero Dipping Cups, I used Dark Chocolate
  • Crispy bacon crumbled, I used 2 slices
  • Handful of pecans, chopped
  • Pinch of sea salt
 

STEP TWO: MELT THE CHOCOLATE AND POUR ONTO SILICONE MAT (OR PARCHMENT PAPER)

Once you have all of your ingredients gathered, it is time to melt your chocolate. Since I used the Choc Zero dipping cups I simply took the tops off, gathered them all on a plate and microwaved them for 30 seconds, stirred them and then continued to microwave for small increments until fully melted. 

 

Once melted I poured the chocolate onto my silicone mat. You can pour the chocolate in any shape you desire, but do it fairly quickly so it doesn't begin to harden. 

I did not have a pan under my silicone mat, but I would recommend that so you can quickly add it to the refrigerator once you are done. The Choc Zero hardens very nicely, so I simply waited 20 minutes until it was hard enough and then slid a cutting board underneath and transferred it all to the fridge. But not until you finish the next step... add your toppings! 

 

STEP THREE: ADD THE TOPPINGS! 

This is the best part! Crumble the Keto Kookies into smaller chunks and spread evenly around the bark so you get a little in every bite! Then fill in the space in between with crumbled bacon and chopped pecans. To finish off the bark add a pinch of sea salt. 

YUMMMMMMM!

Then if you have a little extra bacon and a little extra chocolate...

SO GOOD!

 

STEP FOUR: REFRIGERATE UNTIL HARDENED AND THEN SERVE! 

LOOK. AT. THIS. BARK! Drool worthy, right?! Look at those big Keto Kookie chunks! Break it up into smaller pieces and then serve!

KETO RECIPE: BRUSSELS SPROUTS AU GRATIN


Here is a delicious side dish for Thanksgiving or anytime really! I made a large portion because I am heading to a Friendsgiving, but divide everything by 1/3 to feed 2-4 people! 

Step 1: 3lbs of halved Brussels sprouts, 3 shallots sliced thin, olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 425 for 15 minutes, stir halfway through.

Pull out after 15 minutes (or once Brussels have gotten soft), and add 12 oz of chopped kale.

On top of kale add 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream. Then add lots of shredded cheese! 1/2 cup of fontina cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, 1/2 cup of gruyere.

Add "breadcrumbs". I used crushed pork rinds, but Know Foods also makes a keto friendly breadcrumb product! Add about a cup.

Pop back in the oven for about 15 minutes. You want your "bread crumbs" to be browned and your cheese bubbling.
