I started Keto in January 2016, I mainly wanted to remove the inflammation from my body because I am fighting 2 autoimmune disorders, but I also wanted to lose weight because I was at my heaviest. I have done Atkins in the past, the longest was for a year and a half, and I had great results but eventually I started “eating like a normal person” again and gained weight. Then about a year and a half ago I was having a lot of issues with my stomach, so after the Drs couldn’t give me a conclusive answer, I decided to go gluten free. Within 2 weeks my stomach issues were much, much better after 6 months of misery. So Keto was the next step. I read a lot about it and I really liked the focus on high quality foods since I have always kept my house as organic/grass-fed/hormone free as possible. That became very important to me when I became a mom (my daughter is now 12!). I also really love to cook AND I really love to eat out, so for me Keto is easy because there are so many things you can eat!

I get Remicade IV infusions every 6 weeks for my autoimmune diseases and I used to get soreness mainly in my hands 1-2 weeks before. Since going Keto I no longer have those issues at all! I really love the Keto way of life, I plan on eating this way the rest of my life and I can’t wait to continue to see progress and remarkable changes with my body and also with my mind and quality of life!

I know there will be stalls in weight loss and different cycles my body goes through. In fact, I have been the same weight ever since I came home from vacation in early August! 2 months at the same weight! But I have also been very stressed out for the last 2 months, so it makes sense to me that my body is holding onto the weight. I am now becoming more aware of the mental effects on my physical progress and will be working on that. It is all a journey and since Keto is a way of life for me, I am in no rush. When I get discouraged I just look at photos like the one above and realize how amazing it is that I have gotten this far!
