KETO IN THE CITY FINDS: SUGAR FREE SHACK

It’s so exciting that there are starting to be more and more low carb, keto and sugar-free options in the real world! One day I was driving and saw the sign for Sugar Free Shack, which obviously caught my attention. I finally got a chance to stop in and I’m so glad I did. It’s a bakery that has a combination of low carb goodies and sugar free goodies.

The sugar free desserts aren’t as low carb as the others. They have a great macro call out list right on the counter so you can see exactly what ingredients they use and the net carb count for each. I ordered a variety of things from the low carb menu to try:

  • Churro Donut, 3 net carbs

  • Chocolate Donut, 4 net carbs

  • Vanilla Cupcake, 2-3 net carbs

  • Red Velvet Cupcake, 2-3 net carbs

  • Slice of Vanilla Cake, 5 net carbs

Then over the next few days I enjoyed all of these treats! My favorites were the slice of cake and the churro donut! They were so so good! It’s such a great experience to be able to walk into a bakery and know exactly what is in the food and feel confident in the ingredients and being able to order sweet treats that work for a ketogenic lifestyle. I feel super lucky that the Sugar Free Shack is only a few miles from my house, so I will definitely be stopping in on a regular basis.

My daughter who is not as strict about what she eats, tried the oatmeal cookie and was obsessed with them. She also tried the sugar free cupcake instead of the low carb and she loved it and has been asking for more ever since ;)

The Sugar Free Shack is in Torrance, CA on Hawthorne Blvd, you can check out the Yelp reviews here. If you’re in the LA area you definitely need to check it out! I know I will be back many, many times.

Choc Zero Squares- My Travel Buddy

milk choc zero jen

I am always on a plane to somewhere it feels like. Between traveling to my daughter’s volleyball tournaments and traveling for work, I spend a lot of time in the air and in hotels. Those of you who are on the road a lot know that packing your own snacks is KEY! Guess what my favorite travel snack is?! 🍫❤️ CHOC ZERO!

Choc Zero Squares and Choc Zero Bark is the best stuff ever!!! I don't know about you, but being in an airport makes me want to:

a) spend way too much money on magazines

b) eat candy (sometimes those old habits die hard)

Luckily, I have Choc Zero! It is my favorite Keto sweet treat, they are delicious and individually packaged to put that sweet tooth to rest.

Choc Zero- Keto Chocolate Syrup

Choc Zero's Chocolate Syrup is Delectable!

I love Choc Zero's Keto Bark! It is a perfect treat after a long day! I just learned that Choc Zero's Chocolate Syrup is the exact same chocolate they use to make the keto bark, they just put it into the bottle instead of making bark!

Put this syrup on pancakes, keto cakes, or even just fruit. I love dipping strawberries into this syrup!

Choc Zero Chocolate syrup is back in stock and ready to be sent right to your door!

Choc Zero Chocolate Syrup has no preservatives, no sugar alcohols, and only 5 ingredients!

Yep 5 ingredients!!!

  • Liquid vegetable fiber,

  • unsweetened chocolate

  • cocoa butter

  • monk fruit extract,

  • natural chocolate liquor.

It’s vegan and Soy and Gluten Free!

This syrup has a thick fudge like consistency! You can drizzle it over low carb ice cream and bake it into Keto Treats! I swear, I could just eat it right off of a spoon!

If you want it a little thinner, run the bottle over some warm water. Don’t worry it will thicken right back up when you put it in the fridge.

You really can’t go wrong with this low carb Chocolate Syrup. What ever you put it on is going to be delicious! But hurry, Choc Zero products sell out quickly. They will be restocked (every friday at 5pm) but my suggestion is to snag them up any time they are in stock so you never run out! :)

Nui Variety Packs are HERE!!!

I love all of the Nui cookie flavors and sometimes it's hard to decide which flavor to order. I normally end up buying 2-3 boxes of flavors because I don't want to eat the same flavor of cookies back to back. Luckily, Nui has just launched a brand new Variety pack!

The new variety pack is perfect if you want to change it up or if you want to try a new flavor but don’t want to commit to an entire box.

Haven’t tried Snickerdoodle? (WHAT, are you crazy?) Now is your chance to try them out. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Nui is one of my favorite brands to team up with. Their founders are Keto and made the cookie recipes out of desire to help other people ditch sugar with out being miserable. Nui Cookies are fantastic!

Nui Cookies sell out extremely fast! Before this Variety pack launched they were sold out of Double Chocolate Chip and Cinnamon Snickerdoodle. The Variety Pack will go quickly, so hurry. Snatch up your Nui Variety pack before everyone else (including myself) buys them!

I’m also doing a Nui Giveaway on my Instagram this week! Head over and enter to win FREE COOKIES!!

Don’t forget to use the code KETOINTHECITY to get 10% off of your entire order of Nui Cookies!!

Recognize these guys?

This is Kristoffer and Victor. They are the founders of Nui. And you may have seen them shaking A-Rod’s hand on Shark Tank Shark Tank recently!

Nui is one of my favorite Keto Brands! They make KETO products not just products that you can kind of fit into your macros. That peace of mind is wonderful!

These Keto cookies are incredible. They are chewy and flavorful and just sweet enough. One sleeve (two cookies) has at the most 4g of Net Carbs.

Nui cookies come in several different flavors: Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, Double Chocolate, and Chocolate Chip. Every so often they come out with a seasonal flavor, but you can get these four all year long.

Nui cookies are made with almond and coconut flour, so they are naturally gluten free. They are sweetened with monk fruit extract and erythritol.

Nui cookies are delicious! My favorite flavor is Snickerdoodle. These cinnamon Snickerdoodle cookies only have 2 g net carbs in the whole sleeve and have 6g of Protein, making them an amazing and flavorful way to fight off afternoon hunger.

The folks at Nui recently shared this amazing Churro Truffle Recipe. It takes the Snickerdoodle Cookies and turns them into melt in your mouth fat bombs. These are perfect to eat after a long day!

KETO RECIPE: Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Life is just better with cookies isn’t it?! Here’s my favorite recipe for puffy, chewy chocolate chip cookies. You can use any keto-friendly chocolate chip or chunks of super dark chocolate. You can also add nuts if you would like, chopped macadamia nuts are my favorite!

BigBookOFKeto_Chewy_Chocolate_Chip_Cookies_Ingredients_Raw.jpg

DIRECTIONS

1.     Preheat oven to 350

2.     Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat and set aside.

3.     In a saucepan or in the microwave, melt the butter. Place in a room-temperature container and let it set in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to cool down.

4.     In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, salt, erythritol, and cream of tartar. Stir to combine.

5.     In a small bowl, combine the egg, vanilla, and cooled butter. Whisk together.

6.     Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine everything together with a large spoon or rubber scraper, then fold in the chocolate chips.

7.     Scoop out 2 to 3” mounds of cookie dough and place on the prepared baking sheet. I like to flatten mine a bit.

8.     Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack for an additional 15 minutes.

9.     These will make puffy chocolate chip cookies with a chewy center. I absolutely love them cold, so I generally store in the refrigerator.

4. Refrigerate for an hour, unmold the gummies

Store gummies in airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
